"Becoming a litter pick hub has been a natural progression of our grass roots community engagement, focused towards real life improvements! We are passionate about our environment and want to support others in making a difference.

Litter pick equipment kits for both children and adults can be borrowed from the centre throughout the year. Please just give them a call to start your own local litter pick.
Picks can occur often or you could just do a one off...there are no rules or expectations and any action to reduce litter is what we are aiming for.
Equipment available includes litter pickers, bags, bag hoops, high vis vests, protective gloves and a how to guide.

Yesterday’s Summer Litter Pick was a brilliant success!
We had 15 amazing volunteers turn up, roll up their sleeves, and get stuck in, collecting an incredible 12 bags of rubbish as well as large pieces of scrap metal, wood, polystyrene, clothes, and 1 broken bike from around our community.
We were honestly quite shocked by the sheer amount of litter and fly-tipping we came across, particularly around wildlife areas and residential buildings. It really was a reminder of how important it is for all of us to dispose of our rubbish responsibly and look after the places we all call home.
It was also fantastic to have children taking part. They worked incredibly hard alongside the adults and were all rewarded with prizes and certificates for the amazing work that they did.
And, of course, no litter pick would be complete without finishing off with some well-earned biscuits and refreshments!
A huge thank you to every single person who came along and gave up their time. You really are a credit to our community, and it was lovely to see everyone coming together to make a difference.

Burnside Preschool's Eco Warriors did an amazing job tidying up the Kick Pitch today after it was left full of rubbish. Thank you to our little helpers for looking after our environment!
Look at that incredible difference! We are so proud of their teamwork and dedication to keeping our community beautiful. Let’s all follow their lead and keep our spaces clean!

Seven of our Pre-School Eco-Warriors did a litter pick around Willow Park just before the rain came down. The children did really well and other people on the park area were smiling and wishing the children well.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to our incredible pre-school children for their fantastic effort during our Big Spring Clean on 18th March 2026! 💚
In partnership with Rochdale Council, Bowlee School and St Mary’s RC School, our little learners showed such enthusiasm, teamwork and care while helping to tidy up our community. 🧤🗑️
Taking part in the Great British Spring Clean gave our children a wonderful opportunity to learn about looking after their environment, and they truly made us proud with their positive attitudes and hard work. 🌎✨
A big well done to everyone involved — you’ve helped make our neighbourhood a cleaner, safer and more welcoming place! 👏
