Sophie Longmire

Trustee

Sophie is a Senior Marketing and Fundraising Officer with experience across both the charity and commercial sectors, specialising in social media, engagement, and community building. Passionate about bringing people together, she has spent much of her career helping organisations build meaningful connections and inspire positive action.

She holds an MA in Social Policy, focusing on poverty, inequality, and the representation of communities in the media. This academic background has shaped her belief in the importance of strong, connected communities and the power of collective action to create lasting change.

Originally from the North East, Sophie was inspired to join CleanupUK after seeing the impact of its work in the region and the difference it makes to local people. Her own litter-picking journey began after moving to a new area with her puppy, whose habit of picking things up from the ground made her more aware of the litter in local spaces. What started as a practical response soon became a way to improve the local environment, connect with neighbours and feel part of a new community.

As a trustee, Sophie is committed to supporting CleanupUK's mission to create cleaner, safer places and create community connections.
