At CleanupUK, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone who engages with our work. We believe that all children, young people and adults at risk have the right to protection from abuse, harm, neglect and exploitation.

We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and we are committed to :

Taking concerns, disclosures and allegations seriously
Responding promptly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns
Ensuring our staff, trustees, volunteers and partners understand their safeguarding responsibilities
Complying with relevant safeguarding legislation, guidance and best practice

DBS Checks

We do not believe that our staff or volunteers require DBS checks.  The role of CleanupUK is to support communities to come together to form locally led litter-picking. CleanupUK are not responsible for supervising the litter-pickers. It should also be noted that a DBS check identifies only people who have already been convicted of a safeguarding issue. It is therefore more important that all staff and volunteers are trained to recognise the signs of abuse or exploitation and to know how to report their concerns.
