An environmental group who take a pride in the river Aire between Crown Point Bridge and Thwaite Mill organising community litter picks and caring for local wildlife.
We picked from the banks of the Aire in South Leeds along the scenic Trans Pennine Trail to the Thwaite Water Mill.

A mile stretch along the river Aire in the Leeds ward of Hunslet and Riverside. There were 100s of plastic bottles and lots of polystyrene amongst the litter left as the river receded.

River born litter that had been left on the bank after the swollen Aire returned to more normal levels. It was easy to fill one bag with plastic bottles, polystyrene and a few cans. One can was a spray paint aerosol, probably discarded by a thoughtless graffiti artist.
