The group shall be known as “Rushden Higham Ferrers Litter Wombles”
It shall be a non-profit making organisation and all funds raised to be used solely to further its aims for the benefit of the environmental protection & improvement projects & Advancement of citizenship and community development.
2) Aims
Its aims shall be:
a) To work towards environmental improvement of the towns Higham Ferrers & Rushden.
b) To actively encourage use of the group and its events by all members of the community, regardless of race, culture, sexuality and abilities in doing so developing community cohesion.
c) To work with councils and partners to improve the towns environmental impact reducing risk to wildlife and fear of crime increasing orderliness.
D) To enhance community cohesion by offering community events and training to better skill helpers/ community members and understand our aims.
💚🌎 Earth Day 2026 🌏 💚
Rushden Higham Ferrers Litter Wombles have been busy today with projects happening across the town!
This morning Blossoms Day Nursery and The Hive were out and about litter picking and understanding the importance of our community & wildlife, they have also been seed planting 🌱 thanks for their support in teaching our next generation about our planet.
Later on some of our team visited Rushden Town Council about a surprise to be released soon!
Finally this evening our team of 9 volunteers visited Adnitt Road Rushden and the surrounding area collecting:
15 Bags of litter
1 bag of aluminium cans for recycling
1 pair of glasses for recycling
7 NOS Cylinders
Everyday is earth day to us and we know our environment matters to our community aswell, we are so greatful to have an amazing group of volunteers and we thank them for their commitment to our environment!
A big thanks to all those who have helped today!

Today our team of 14 volunteers hit Northampton Road / Rushden Lakes Bridge area in #Rushden
With big thanks to Stephen, Paul, Alison, Jan, Cindy, Pauline, Helga, Joan, John, Richard, Derek, Sam, Craig & Joanne.
We collected 35 bags of litter and detritus clearing the Cul-De-Sac aswell - here’s a few before and after pictures!
