A local resident suggested starting up a community litter pick with the support of Community Builder Natalie. Local residents and students come together once a month to litter pick for an hour. We begin at Devonshire Place Orchard at 11.00am and finish at 12 noon. We team up in pairs to litter pick, connect and keep active.
We collect cans for Exeter City Football Club. ECFC work with Exeter City Council to recycle the cans, with all proceeds going to the community.
We are a mix of ages and welcome anyone who is happy to join us.
*All equipment is provided, however bring your own if you have any β»οΈ

Not as much litter as usual today. One resident thinks the message might be registering with people and another resident thinks it's because the students have returned home π€ Today was hot but we recieved lots of thanks you and a couple of local residents approached us, keen to join our group π Disappointed with the guy that decided to throw his cigarette outside of his garden into the street, right in front of me π‘ We put all the rubbish into two bags and had a bag of cans and glass for the bottle bank and Cans 4 City. Although it was hot, it was lovely to welcome a new resident to our group and hear about her womble themed litter-picking in St James. Till the 26th July, lets keep recycling β»οΈ

Today 12 St James Community Action Group volunteers got together in the heat to do just under an hour of litter picking. It was tough going in the heat but we persevered and collected 10 bags between 12 of us. Well Street was particularly littered as was surrounding roads, mainly with take away containers. I managed to speak to a local takeaway business owner about the recycling scheme at Exeter City FC - Cans 4 City fingers π€ 10 of us popped into The Victoria Inn on Union Rd for a celebratory thank you drink and cake. It was lovely hearing what volunteers think of our group and what they personally get out of being apart of something so satisfying & rewarding. I've added some quotes to the photos πΈ
