Honouring Davina's Legacy
The Davina Hodson Memorial Awards have been created in memory of our wonderful friend Davina, whose kind and generous support of CleanupUK enabled us to reach many more communities in need across the country.
These awards are a celebration of the community spirit, dedication and passion that Davina helped inspire. They recognise the outstanding achievements of the people who work tirelessly to improve their local surroundings, bring communities together and, importantly, have fun along the way.
From individual litter-pickers to established community groups, we want to shine a spotlight on the people making a positive difference all year round.
The 2026 Davina Award Categories
There are four exciting categories this year, with fantastic prizes up for grabs!
1. Most Fun Themed Litter-Picking Event Award
Who says litter-picking can't be fun? From festive litter-picks and fancy-dress challenges to creative community events, we're celebrating those who put a fun twist on cleaning up their neighbourhood and inspire others to join in.
Who could you nominate? A group or individual who has organised a creative, themed litter-picking event that brings people together and makes cleaning up their local area enjoyable.
The prize: £300 cash!
📸 Photos are essential for this category! We want to see the costumes, creativity and community spirit in action.
2. Young Litter Picker Award (Under 16)
Our young environmental champions deserve recognition too! This award celebrates an inspiring young person or group under the age of 16 who has gone above and beyond to care for their neighbourhood through litter-picking and environmental action.
Who could you nominate? A young person or group under 16 who is making a positive difference in their community and inspiring others to take pride in their surroundings.
The prize: £100 voucher!
3. Best Transformation of a Public Space
Small actions can make a big difference, and we'd love to celebrate the communities proving just that. Has a group or individual transformed a neglected corner, revitalised a local beauty spot or turned an unloved public space into somewhere the whole community can enjoy? We're looking for inspiring projects that demonstrate the power of local action, whether through clearing litter, improving shared spaces or encouraging people to take pride in their surroundings.
Who could you nominate? A group of volunteers or a community project that has made a visible, positive difference to a public space.
The prize: £300 cash!
📸 Photos are essential for this category! Show us the transformation and tell us how the project has benefited local people.
4. Most Engaging Community Cleanup Hub
This award recognises the CleanupUK Hub that has successfully engaged the most new litter-pickers and encouraged more people to get involved in local cleanups.
How will the winner be chosen? The CleanupUK Team will select the winning Hub based on the number of new litter-pickers engaged. Hubs will be ranked using the litter-picks logged through the CleanupUK website.
The prize: £300 cash!
A fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Hubs bringing people together and growing the cleanup movement in their communities.
