We were joined by 16 volunteers today for our Portishead Big Clean of Kilkenny Bay and the surrounding coast path area. In just one hour, these amazing volunteers collected 8 bags of general waste and two bags of recycling! ✨ Thank you so much to all of you that joined us!
Our next Portishead Big Clean will be on the 28th June, 10:30am at the Lake Grounds (cafe Lido end)! Although, you may see us before that at some well known community events happening in June 👀

I went for a very early morning walk around our newly renovated Marine Lake today and I was shocked to see how much littering there was 😱
I braved the uneven rocky outcrop at Anchor Head and filled a bin liner to try and do my bit and the council litter warden arrived at 6.30 to some clearing up but unfortunately, for us early risers, it's not really early enough for us to be able to enjoy the surroundings litter free.
It's such a shame and it's really sad 😢
I'm not sure what the answer is to this problem, as the people that do this clearly don't care and are unlikely to listen to change. Maybe some sort of human culling with a sniper rifle (joke!) 🤔

Our legacy director Jan with help from one of our lovely volunteers has been down at the lake this evening collecting rubbish. We would
like to thank everyone who goes above and beyond with litter picking at the lake. We know a lot of you are there picking litter throughout the day. North Somerset Council have also arranged for Glendale to clear the apron early morning. There are bags and litter pickers by the beach end of the lake .We want everyone to enjoy the lake, please don’t litter. #leavenotrace

Just collected 5 bags from around marine lake. Still lots of people there so will need another go but I'm done for tonight. All the top bins overflowing and some on the seafront so at least some people are trying to dispose of their rubbish. Some nice kids helped me collect as well which was good to see. 😊

We walked our dog tonight, late about 9.45. Very short walk, one side of the Tropicana to the pool on the other side. Son always litter picks, tonight 2 black bags collected in that short walk. More could of been collected too. Driving home we were amazed at how many bins were overflowing.
While people visiting the beach should take responsibility and not be such dirty b's, surely North Somerset Council needs to take responsibility too. We all know the forecast, can predict it's going to be busy, why not put extra bin collections in?
