Took mum out today for a trundle around Queens Road and Queen Elizabeth Road but hardly any litter found. Very nice and neat there. Not even half a bag but the lowest I can register is 1. Still a pleasant walk in the fresh air, though.

Not much litter in Kings Road so trundled along Wash Lane with my new litter trolley. (What a boon that is). Usual cans, bottles, butts and oddments of plastics along with some debris from a recent car crash along Wash Lane. Lovely day for litter picking.

Today was a busy day at the beach with the ganesh festival and also the social media influencer Spud Man with a three hour queues on the pier. There was a vast array of litter today. a ton of cable ties, abandoned bottles of water, plates, spoons, napkins, rope , cord, shoes, beach toys, nets from beach toys and also sadly oil / tar found in various sites along the beach . this has been reported to the environment agency. we were there from 12 until around 6.

Susan and Ellie from TPRS joined the clacton volunteer litter pickers at an earlier than usual time to try to encourage ore participation. The queue for the Spud Man was phenomenal! it was an extremely windy day. we had three young volunteers ask to join us whilst we were picking on the beach. Luckily I usually carry spare kit .

I pick up one small bag of litter every day. This is Walton’s main beach- Walton Albion Beach and sometimes under the pier too. This Summer I have found lots of glass bottles and cans from late night gatherings on the beach. Also if people have a takeaway on the beach the remains of that can sometimes just get left on the beach.
